3 Reasons to Have a Dying Tree Removed Immediately

dead+tree.jpg

We often have potential customers wait until their trees are dead… like rotting-and-falling-over-dead… before they call us. Sometimes, these trees have been dead for several years. And for every month that goes by with a dead tree, the tree becomes more and more dangerous to remove. Below are 3 reasons to have a dying tree removed immediately…

1) Safety

Safety for you. And safety for us. Clearly, you don’t want the tree to fall on your home or your loved ones. And, in the case of our work as tree service providers, many more unpredictable things can happen while trying to remove an extremely dead tree. With fewer strong branches remaining on the tree, there are fewer spots to place the ropes to lower limbs down safely. Much more risk is involved for our workers (and important structures near the tree), which drives costs up! (See #2 on that one.)

2) Cost

Some people think that since all the leaves have fallen off a tree - and many of the branches have broken off - that they are saving money and it won't cost as much to have it removed. In fact, the opposite is true. As mentioned in #1, the tree is becoming more and more dangerous for workers. The price will be much higher if the tree is ready to fall over while they are there working on it, rather than if the tree had been removed while dying or only been dead for a short period of time.

3) Missed Window of Opportunity

There have been several occasions in which we have turned down jobs because the tree is too dead and unsafe. The homeowners have said, "We can’t get anyone that is willing to take the tree down.” They’re left with no option but to let the tree fall on its own. Just another reason not to wait! In Medina County, Ohio, for example, the emerald ash borer has wiped out nearly all large ash trees in the area. So if homeowners know they have ash trees that are starting to die and that they have not treated at all, it is better to call to have it removed sooner rather than later.
